St. Pius X Catholic School in Indianapolis has been recycling laser and ink jet cartridges for several years. Last year, our school earned $534 on cartridges with another recycling vendor. After researching fundraising for our school, we decided to add cell phones to our recycling program. Think Recycle’s ability to recycle both cell phones and cartridges made them the logical choice for our school, so we switched to Think Recycle.
Our school’s goal is to use our funds for our technology program. Think Recycle’s Linda Braga has done an amazing job of helping our school reach our goals. We began a recycling campaign (Recycle Mania) in February, trying to build awareness and increase the amount of recyclables coming in to our school. This promotion will end on Indiana Earth Day. Think Recycle has helped us by providing ideas and shipping containers located throughout our school. Not only have we increased awareness, but we have also increased the amount of shipments coming to Think Recycle. Our school goal was $1,000 and we recently surpassed this amount before the end of our campaign! The beauty of this program is that parents are not asked for money. Their trash becomes our cash
Not only has our recycling program helped St. Pius X technology program, but it has helped educate our students about our environment. St. Pius even introduced our recycling mascot, Mary Mobile. She appears on school video announcements and makes appearances at school carnivals. Thanks to Think Recycle for helping St. Pius X raise funds for our technology program. Your continued improvement has helped make my job as a volunteer easy…. specifically:
• Improved website
• Easy shipping
• Great customer service and quick response
• Timely payments
Thanks!

The students have been excited about the recycle program. They have gotten their relatives and friends involved and in turn the adults have gotten their co-workers involved in recycling. This has been a nice ripple effect. Through our science programs at each grade level, children are made aware of the importance of recycling products and the effect on our earth of not recycling. They have learned about setting goals and they have experienced the rewards of reaching their goals. The students watch the chart posted in the cafeteria to see how many trees are being planted in their honor and the amount of money they have earned. The monies earned are being used for a school garden they have named “The Learning Garden”. This allows them to see tangible items earned as a result of their efforts. Part of the garden will be one that produces fruits and vegetables and the other part will be a Reading Garden that will have drought tolerate plants and provide a pleasant place to read during their free time. Their new goal is collect more next year than they did this year.

THINK RECYCLE HAS HELPED MY BOY SCOUT TROOP TO OBTAIN MONEY NEEDED FOR OUR CHURCH WITHOUT HAVING TO SPEND MONEY TO MAKE THE MONEY. IT IS A GREAT PROGRAM AND COULD NOT BE ANY EASIER TO OBTAIN SUPPLIES OR THE REBATES. I AM ALSO PLEASED THAT WE HAVE HELPED THE ENVIRONMENT AND IT IS AN ADDED BONUS THAT THERE ARE NEW TREES BEING PLANTED. I ALSO CAN NEVER THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR HELPING ME OBTAIN MY RANKING OF EAGLE SCOUT WITH THIS PROGRAM.

Dear Think Recycle,
The Eugene Auer PTA would like to tell you how much Think Recycle has helped us to help our school. The Think Recycle recycling program has helped us to fund our Arts in Education program. This program deals with many things such as bullying and anti-drug programs for our fifth graders. Megan's Law for our younger students as well as the HIP Pickles (a musical) Rainforest and PARP (parents as reading partners).
PARP is the program that is promoted the most by the PTA. PARP encourages parents to read to their children and/or with the children. Each year we have a theme and the principal decides on the number of hours the students need to read for as a group. The students write down the name of their book, author, and a brief summary as to what it is about. As the students read, the total number of books/hours read are tallied up and posted in the school by the front door. When the four-week program is over, the students receive prizes for participating. The students are excited to see their numbers grow as the week’s progress. We have authors such as Brian Heinz and Rod Crew come to promote reading as well. Our students take class trips to parks to study the environment and the habitat of Long Island. Annually, our third graders go to a place called Cedar Beach and have the opportunity to examine the life on and around the beach. Also, the various grade levels see shows at a local theater as well.
The PTA also sponsors our annual Milk and Cookies Night, which is linked with our Book Fair. We have teachers (some dressed in their PJ's) read their favorite stories over the course of an hour and the students (who are dressed in their PJ's) "travel" from class to class listening to stories. They receive stamps at each teacher’s class they have listened to a story in. When their cards are filled up, the students can put their name in for a raffle. This affords us the opportunity for teachers to make a book list for books they would like for their classroom and parents purchase the books for them. When the students are finished listening to the stories, they go to the cafeteria for some cookies and milk.
As you can see, Think Recycle helps the Eugene Auer PTA do so much for "Auer" students. We thank Think Recycle for all you do, not just for the environment but for "Auer" students as well.
With great thanks to all,
Pam Losquadro

Think Recycle has helped Balbo Elementary to provide community service. This is a component of our Lion's Quest program which we follow. We provide residents and businesses with an environmentally friendly way to help reduce landfill sites through our participation in the Think Recycle program. By providing an alternative to garbage disposal for printer cartridges and cell phones, we effectively help to reduce the amount of these items in landfills and raise a little much needed money for our technology program at school.

GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT...GOOD FOR ST. CLARE SCHOOL
We have been involved with the Think Recycle recycling program for 4 years.
This valuable initiative in our school has certainly helped build awareness about recycling and reinforces a respect for our environment.
We advertise about the Think Recycle program in our school newsletters encouraging families to participate. Also, we continue to motivate students with yearly contests, and prizes for those who bring in used printer ink cartridges and cell phones.
Each Spring St. Clare participates in the community 'Schools In Bloom'
project. With the funds that we collect from the recycling of ink cartridges and cell phones we purchase plants, trees, and flowers for our school garden. We have been winners of this community event for the past 3 years.
Thanks to Think Recycle in helping us to achieve our goals!
