Through its partners, Tree Canada and American Forests, Greentec’s Think Recycle program participants have collectively planted 30,000 trees
Cambridge, ON. October 6, 2006 - Greentec announced today that it has achieved the planting of 30,000 trees through its partnerships with Tree Canada and American Forests. This achievement represents the company’s goal of giving back to the environment through its recycling program Think Recycle. The program’s 10,000+ participants throughout North America collect and send in used print cartridges and cell phones in exchange for funding. For every 12 recycled items, Greentec plants one tree through Tree Canada and American Forests on behalf of its participants.
"The tree planting incentive makes our program more attractive than any other print cartridge and cell phone recycling program out there," said Natalie Cutler, Greentec’s Marketing Manager.
The ever growing Think Recycle program has been in operation since 2001 and has since generated over $3 million in funding to its participants, diverted more than 930,000 lbs. of waste from landfill and recycled over 1,850,000 print cartridges and cell phones.
"Greentec is very proud to have achieved these milestones and will continue to strive for waste diversion in everything that we do," said the company’s president, Tony Perrotta.
Greentec operates the only program of its kind in North America that is ISO 14001 certified. This assures its customers, participants and suppliers that the company is adhering to stringent environmental management systems.
